Early Life and Education
Sriharsha Majety was born in Andhra Pradesh in 1986 in a well educated family. Sriharsha pursued a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Electrical and Electronics, as well as a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Physics from Birla Institute of Technology and Science in 2008. However, somewhere along the line, he realised that his passion lay elsewhere. He enrolled in the CFA Programme but dropped out soon after. It was at this point that he found himself at a crossroads, unsure of what path to take.
This phase of uncertainty brought him to Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta, where he pursued a Post-Graduate Diploma in Management. While at IIM, He served as a recruitment coordinator, but even with a prestigious education under his belt, the corporate world wasn’t where his heart truly lay.
Majety’s journey toward entrepreneurship wasn’t direct. After his stint at IIM, he began his career as an Associate at Nomura International in London. The job offered him stability and success. But the rigid structure of corporate life wasn’t enough to quench his adventurous spirit. After just one year, he made the decision to leave his job and travel the world.
Majety embarked on a daring 3500-kilometre bicycle journey from Portugal to Greece over three months, soaking in the beauty and diversity of different cultures. He continued his travels through public transport and hitchhiking and covered Turkey to Kazakhstan.
In his own words from LinkedIn, he reflects that this decision has been “the most rewarding” of his life. His travels helped him understand not just the world, but also himself and gave him the clarity to pursue something bigger.

The Birth of Swiggy
After returning from his travels, Majety co-founded Bundl in 2013 as a logistics aggregation platform aimed at helping e-commerce merchants manage deliveries across India. However, fate had something much bigger in store. While working on Bundl, Majety realised the potential for a food delivery system that changed how India experienced dining.
In 2014, along with his co-founders Nandan Reddy and Rahul Jaimini, Majety transformed Bundl into Swiggy, the app that soon revolutionised the way Indians ordered food. Swiggy’s early days were tough. The founders faced a challenging market and stiff competition, but they persevered. From its humble beginning in just 12 cities, Swiggy rapidly expanded its reach and made its mark as one of the most reliable and efficient food delivery platforms in India.
Majety’s unique blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and vision helped Swiggy grow into a household name.The turning point came in 2017 when Swiggy launched its cloud kitchen chain, “The Bowl Company”, which was instrumental in solidifying its market dominance. Then came 2020, the year of the COVID-19 pandemic.
While many businesses faced uncertainty and decline, Majety saw an opportunity to expand. Swiggy Genie was introduced, followed by Swiggy Instamart which is a grocery delivery service that became a lifeline for many during the lockdown. The company's innovative steps didn’t end there, Swiggy also ventured into delivering alcohol in select states, further diversifying its offerings.
Today, under Majety's leadership, Swiggy operates in 500+ cities and has partnered with over 10,000 delivery executives and 800 restaurants, delivering more than 1 million orders. The company has raised millions in funding from prestigious investors like Norwest Venture Partners, Accel, and DST Global, and has an overall valuation of $2 billion.
