Vinod Saraf was the eldest among seven siblings and grew up in a modest environment. He was born into a middle-class family in Rajasthan, His father was a small trader. At a young age after recognising the transformative power of education, Vinod excelled in his studies. He completed his schooling at a Hindi medium school in his area. At the age of 17, he made everyone proud, he topped the State in his Graduation and also went on to achieve a Gold Medal in his MBA from the prestigious BITS Pilani at the tender age of 19.

Over the next decade, Vinod worked in various textile companies, honing his skills before landing a significant role in one of the companies under the Birla Group.

He also worked closely with the legendary industrialist Aditya Birla. Vinod Saraf rose, eventually becoming the Managing Director of Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals Ltd. (MRPL). His tenure with companies like Grasim Industries, Modern Syntex, and Bhilwara Group showcased his leadership capabilities and strategic vision. Later, it helped him to establish his empire.

The Entrepreneurial Leap:

At the age of 38, an age when many professionals settle into their corporate roles, Vinod Saraf took a bold step in his life. He was driven by a long-standing dream of entrepreneurship. He decided to leave the security of his position and embarked on the challenging path of starting his own business. In 1990, Vinati Organics was born, with Saraf venturing into the production of Isobutyl Benzene, a niche chemical serving as a raw material for the widely used painkiller ibuprofen.

His elder daughter's name is Vinati, she was 6 years old when he entered the entrepreneurial world and he named his venture after her name "Vinati Organics". 

The journey was not easy because he had no chemistry background, but his determination made his dream true.

Challenges and Turning Points:

The initial years were challenging, and Vinati Organics faced quality issues that threatened the business. However, a significant turning point came when Vinod's daughter, Vinati Saraf Mutreja, joined the Company. A graduate of the prestigious Wharton University in the United States, Vinati, along with a consultant she brought, worked diligently to overcome the challenges and elevate the Company's status. Today, Vinati Organics stands among the largest ibuprofen manufacturers globally by volume.

Vinati Saraf Mutreja is the elder daughter of Vinod Saraf and MD and CEO of Vinati Organics. She joined the Company in 2006 and has been managing the business very well. She is a stalwart in the realm of clean and lean chemistry and has been playing a pivotal role in the remarkable growth of Vinati Organics over her 17-year tenure. She is recognized globally, she earned the title of Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum and was also featured in Economic Times' 40 under 40.
