Early Life and Education
Yash Thombare and Vedang Nalawade are from Pune, Maharashtra. They have diverse academic backgrounds. Vedang studied Psychology, and Yash earned a BBA. After the 12th standard, the lockdown came, and both were at home. They wanted to do something, so they started a drop-shipping business. They did drop-shipping for around 1.5 years and then shifted to inventory holding. During this period, they identified a growing concern: excessive screen time among children, especially after the pandemic. This led them to start selling plastic toys aimed at promoting screen-free play.
However, they encountered challenges in managing and scaling their business effectively. Yash and Vedang soon realized that it wasn’t sustainable in the long run, so they began exploring the market for new opportunities. They already recognized an urgent need for screen-free, skill-building toys that help children develop hand-eye coordination, sensory skills, and problem-solving abilities. Their research led them to the category of portable busy boards idea. They procured MDF sheets, crafted a sturdy box, and designed visually appealing busy boards. They shared advertisements and received offers from day one. This is how the journey started.
