Early Life and the Spark of Entrepreneurship
Ankur was born and brought up in Mumbai with an innate entrepreneurial spirit. Ankur's fascination with business started at an early age, influenced by his father’s own business ventures. This seed, planted in his early years, later guided him through his professional career.
Ankur’s academic journey began on a high note. After completing his 10th grade in 2005 with commendable marks, he chose the science stream. Upon completing school, he pursued engineering from Mumbai University, a field that seemed like the logical step for a bright student like him.
But he never worked in this field. However, after working for two years in an IIT company, Ankur realised that his true calling lay elsewhere.
He transitioned into business development and sales, working at various companies and gaining practical experience. Yet, the idea of entrepreneurship never left his mind.

First Entrepreneurial Venture: Girgit
Ankur’s entrepreneurial journey began during his post-graduation days when he founded his first startup, Girgit, which created innovative removable and reusable fabric skins for t-shirts. The concept was fresh, and the business was profitable, but after two years, Ankur and his team decided to shut down the venture. The reason was its Scalability issues.
Reflecting on this experience, Ankur highlights a critical lesson for aspiring entrepreneurs: "If a business isn't scalable, find ways to make it scalable. If not, it's better to move on." His first startup had been successful in terms of revenue, but without scalability, it wasn't sustainable for the long term.
Lessons in Fintech and the Birth of Jackfruit
Post-Girgit, Ankur continued working in the fintech space, contributing to companies like Axis Bank. However, the desire to create something meaningful lingered. In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, when financial stability and planning became a topic of widespread concern, Ankur had a lightbulb moment: Jackfruit came, which was aimed at simplifying money management for individuals.
The name was as unique as the idea itself, and Jackfruit quickly grew a community of over 45,000 Indians. However, despite the engagement and interest, Ankur encountered the same issue once again—scalability. It was also not profitable. After a year and a half, he decided to shut down Jackfruit, a tough decision but one he knew was necessary.
"Focus on revenue and sales. And if you can't make it scalable and profitable, then it's time to move on," he shares as the essence of his entrepreneurial journey. While closing down the business was emotionally taxing, Ankur emphasizes that the most important takeaway was the knowledge and experience gained during that time.

Joining IDfy and the Rise of Content Creation
After his second entrepreneurial stint, Ankur joined IDfy as an Associate Vice President. But his journey didn’t stop there. Amidst his professional responsibilities, Ankur found another avenue to express his creativity and connect with others: content creation.
Inspired by a friend, Ankur started posting content on LinkedIn in 2020. His love for writing, which had been with him since childhood, found a new outlet. Content creation became something he enjoyed, and although it started erratically, he soon found a rhythm. Today, despite his demanding job, Ankur manages to create content on weekends and during his travel time.
He has a pragmatic approach toward negative comments, advising fellow creators to "ignore what affects you negatively and focus on learning from constructive feedback." He also believes that content creation comes with a responsibility—what you share should be researched, factually accurate, and have value for your audience.
Throughout his journey, Ankur has found inspiration in individuals like Radhika Gupta, whose work and mindset resonate deeply with him. Her influence, alongside his own experiences, has shaped his belief that both entrepreneurship and content creation are endeavours everyone should attempt at least once in their lifetime.
