Who is Padmasingh Isaac?

Padmasingh Isaac is the Chairman and Managing Director of Aachi Group of Companies. He completed his bachelor's degree in Business Administration and started his career as a salesman.

Early Life

A.D. Padmasingh Isaac was born into an agricultural family in the small town of Nazareth in Tamil Nadu. He faced numerous challenges from a young age. At the age of 12, he lost his father. His widowed mother raised him and his four siblings all alone. Despite the hardships, Padmasingh Isaac recalls his mother's love and nurturing, especially through her cooking. The fragrant masalas she prepared left a lasting impression on him, sparking a lifelong passion for spices and food.

Career and the Foundation of Aachi

Padmasingh Isaac began his career with a job at Godrej as a salesman, he used to sell powdered hair dye. He learnt lot of things while working, such as marketing, branding, distribution and many more.  However, his true calling lay him elsewhere.  He was always inspired by his mother’s cooking and wanted to make it available to everyone.

He left his job after ten years as there was nothing more to grow without an MBA. He founded Aachi Masala in 1995. Padmasingh decided to name it Aachi which is directly connected with females or mother feeling. The idea was simple yet revolutionary: to sell ready-to-use premixed spice blends, cutting down the time women spent in the kitchen.

His first product, Kuzhambu milagai thool (curry masala powder), was priced affordably at Rs 2, making it accessible to daily wage labourers in rural areas. But the journey was not without its challenges. Retailers were initially reluctant to stock a new brand. Undeterred, Padmasingh Isaac stood in front of shops promoted his product and offered a free stainless steel tumbler with each purchase. This hands-on approach worked, and soon Aachi’s products began to gain popularity.
